Can I change my artist name?
Unfortunately, changing an artist name after a release has been delivered to shops is no longer possible.
Here’s why:
- ISRC conflicts: Once a track is published, it retains the same ISRC (International Standard Recording Code). Changing the artist name associated with the same ISRC would cause conflicts in the metadata, leading to discrepancies.
- Inconsistent data: Not all platforms accept name change requests, and this inconsistency can result in different artist names being displayed across various platforms, which is something you want to avoid as a professional artist.
- Platform policies: Some platforms, like Apple Music, have explicitly stated they will not accept artist name change requests.
To maintain the integrity of your releases and ensure a professional presentation across all platforms, we recommend careful consideration before finalizing your artist name for any new releases.
